Course Overview

This is our standard Paediatric First Aid course, split across two days to fit more easily around a busy setting. Children respond to emergencies differently from adults, and this course still covers everything a first aider working with infants and children needs — the qualification and syllabus are identical to the two-day in-person course.

The key difference is delivery. Day 1 covers all of the theory and is delivered live online, so delegates can join from home, from a staffroom, or wherever suits — no need to close a room or free up a whole classroom for a full day. Day 2 is the hands-on practical day, delivered in person at your premises with infant and child manikins, where delegates practise the physical skills and complete their assessment.

For nurseries, schools and childminders juggling ratios and room bookings, this means only one day of on-site disruption instead of two — while still meeting the same Ofsted requirements and EYFS framework standards as the standard course.

Prefer everything in person?

We also run the standard two-day Paediatric First Aid course fully on-site. See the in-person course →

How the Blended Format Works

  • Day 1 (Virtual): live, trainer-led theory session covering all core knowledge — not pre-recorded or self-paced
  • Delegates join individually or as a group from your setting, with just a device, camera and stable internet connection
  • Day 2 (In-Person): practical skills, scenario practice and assessment at your premises, using infant and child manikins
  • Same trainer, same paramedic clinical insight, same Ofsted-recognised certificate on completion

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between this and the standard Paediatric First Aid course?

The content and qualification are identical. The only difference is delivery: the theory day is completed live online, and the practical, hands-on day is delivered in person at your premises.

What do I need for the virtual theory day?

Just a device with a camera, microphone and stable internet connection. Delegates can join individually or as a group from your setting, freeing up a full room and day for the following practical session.

Is the blended course still Ofsted-compliant?

Yes, the blended format meets the same Ofsted requirements and EYFS framework standards as the standard two-day course, and the certificate is Ofsted-recognised.

How long is the certificate valid for?

Your certificate is valid for 3 years, the same as the standard Paediatric First Aid course.
